The Angling Trust has welcomed the EU Commission’s recently published proposals for bass fishing opportunities in 2019 which, if agreed by ministers, will eliminate targeted fixed netting and allow anglers to retain one bass per day for seven months of the year – from April through to October 2019.
The Angling Trust British Pike Championships was fished in some unseasonably warm conditions on Whittlesey AA's Glassmoor Bank and the main 20ft drain. A great turnout of over 170 anglers competed in this year’s final, which has hotly contested with several specimen pike being banked.
The Angling Trust RiverFest 2018 had its first year on new final location, The River Severn at Shrewsbury, with the Quarry and County Ground sections being used. Conditions on the two-day final were unseasonably warm and this saw a lot of silverfish being caught, especially in the county ground section.
